TEAM MENTAL PERFORMANCE TRAINING | COACHES & ATHLETIC DIRECTORS

YOUR TEAM HAS THE TALENT. CAN THEY DELIVER UNDER PRESSURE?

You train the plays, the skills, and the conditioning. But what happens when momentum shifts, mistakes pile up, and the game is on the line? I help teams train the mental response, not just hope it shows up.

Discuss Training for Your Team →See the Training Method

For school programs, club teams, college athletics, and competitive organizations.

THE PROBLEM ISN'T ALWAYS TALENT

YOU SEE IT FROM THE SIDELINE.

Practice looks strong. Then the pressure hits, and the team you trained isn't the team you see. Mental performance needs to be practiced just like every other part of the game.

One mistake becomes five

One player loses focus and the frustration spreads across the lineup.

Confidence disappears

Athletes second-guess themselves when the moment gets bigger.

Communication breaks down

Body language changes. Players go quiet. Trust and execution suffer.

Pressure controls the tempo

Your team rushes, freezes, or reacts instead of making the next smart play.

Leaders stop leading

The team needs a steady voice, but even top performers can get overwhelmed.

Practice doesn't transfer

Skills look sharp in training but don't hold together in competition.

THE DIFFERENCE: PERFORMANCE ENGINEERING FOR TEAMS

DON'T JUST MOTIVATE THE TEAM. TRAIN THE SYSTEM.

I bring the problem-solving mindset of a systems engineer to mental performance. We identify what interferes with your team's execution, teach practical mental skills, and rehearse them where pressure shows up.

01 / DIAGNOSE

Find the interference

Spot the patterns: mistakes, emotional swings, communication gaps, and pressure points.

02 / CONDITION

Build the response

Train composure, self-talk, visualization, focus cues, and shared reset routines.

03 / REHEARSE

Train under pressure

Apply mental skills during realistic drills, scrimmages, and game-day preparation.

04 / MEASURE

Review and adjust

Track observable behaviors with coach check-ins and repeatable team habits.

TEAM RESET PROTOCOLA simple shared response after mistakes so the next play gets your team's full attention.
PRESSURE PLAYBOOKTeam-specific cues, pregame routines, and communication habits to carry into competition.

These are proposed elements of Fred's team program, not claims of an independently validated proprietary system.

WHAT YOUR TEAM PRACTICES

MENTAL SKILLS THAT SHOW UP IN THE GAME.

No generic pep talks. The goal is repeatable behaviors your athletes and coaches can use during real competition.

  • Reset quickly after an error or bad call
  • Manage emotions without losing intensity
  • Communicate clearly when the game gets tense
  • Use visualization and mental rehearsal before competition
  • Respond to momentum swings as one team
  • Lead through actions, language, and body language
  • Prepare with a consistent game-day mental routine
Signature team exercise

THE NEXT-PLAY RESET

What if your entire team knew exactly how to respond after a mistake?

We establish a short routine athletes can practice together:

  1. Recognize: Notice the emotional reaction.
  2. Reset: Use a breath, cue, or physical anchor.
  3. Reconnect: Communicate the next assignment.
  4. Respond: Execute the next play.

This is an example of a teachable routine. The actual process is customized to the sport and team.

FLEXIBLE DELIVERY

BUILT AROUND YOUR SEASON. NOT THE OTHER WAY AROUND.

Choose a starting format. The final scope depends on your roster, season, goals, and training needs.

01 / START STRONG

Team Mental Performance Workshop

A focused 60–90 minute session that introduces core skills and gives coaches immediate practice drills to reinforce.

Best for: team introductions, school programs, and leadership events.

02 / BUILD THE FOUNDATION

Preseason Team Intensive

Multiple training sessions to establish team standards, mental routines, pressure skills, and the Next-Play Reset.

Best for: programs preparing for a demanding season.

03 / TRAIN THROUGH THE SEASON

Season-Long Team Partnership

Ongoing team sessions, between-session exercises, and coach accountability check-ins as the season develops.

Best for: teams committed to consistent mental training.

04 / WHEN THE MOMENT IS BIG

Playoff & Tournament Preparation

Targeted work on composure, confidence, routines, and performing together in high-pressure competition.

Best for: teams approaching championships, playoffs, or major events.

Team pricing is customized. We determine a quote based on session format, number of athletes, travel or virtual delivery, and ongoing support. No unverified package prices or guarantees.

NOT ANOTHER MOTIVATIONAL ASSEMBLY

A SYSTEM YOUR COACHES CAN REINFORCE.

A single inspiring session can be forgotten. The real value comes when athletes practice the same language and mental routines week after week.

FOR ATHLETES

Own your response

Understand what is happening mentally and learn what to do in the next moment.

FOR COACHES

Reinforce the skills

Use simple cues and check-ins without turning every practice into a lecture.

FOR TEAM LEADERS

Set the emotional tone

Lead with composure, accountability, and clear communication when pressure rises.

WHY WORK WITH FRED

I UNDERSTAND PERFORMANCE FROM BOTH SIDES.

I'm Fred Martinez, a Peak Mental Performance Strategist with more than 30 years of experience in systems engineering and over 40 years in competitive athletics.

I've competed as an NCAA Division I sprinter and a Masters Olympic weightlifter. I know what it means to prepare, perform, face setbacks, and return to competition.

In engineering, when a system breaks down, we don't simply tell it to try harder. We look for what is interfering with performance and correct the process. That's the thinking I bring to team mental performance.

Background: Systems engineer • NCAA Division I track athlete • Masters Olympic weightlifter • Clinical hypnotherapist • NLP practitioner

MY PHILOSOPHY
Talent creates opportunity. Preparation creates confidence. Your response under pressure determines what happens next.

The purpose is not to eliminate pressure. It's to help your team build a practiced response to it.

Let's Talk About Your Team →

HOW WE BEGIN

FROM THE FIRST CONVERSATION TO THE FIRST DRILL.

STEP 01

Discuss the challenge

Tell me what happens during practice, competition, and high-pressure moments.

STEP 02

Identify patterns

We look for mental and communication patterns worth addressing.

STEP 03

Build a plan

Choose workshops or ongoing training that fits your roster and schedule.

STEP 04

Train and review

Introduce skills, reinforce them in practice, and review the team's progress.

COMMON QUESTIONS

WHAT COACHES & ATHLETIC DIRECTORS ASK

Is this only for struggling teams?

No. Strong teams benefit from improving communication, preparation, leadership, and consistency under pressure. Training is adapted to your current level.

Which sports do you work with?

The core mental skills apply across team sports. We adapt practice examples, shared language, and pressure situations to your sport.

Can parents or school administrators arrange a session?

Yes. Parents, booster groups, athletic directors, and coaches can initiate a conversation. For school-based programs, appropriate school approval and safeguarding requirements apply.

Is training in person or virtual?

Virtual sessions can be arranged. In-person delivery and any related travel are discussed when building the proposal.

How do we know if it's helping?

We set practical behaviors to observe, such as how quickly players reset, communicate, and follow routines. These measures guide coaching, but no win-loss outcome is guaranteed.

How much does team coaching cost?

Pricing depends on scope, group size, location, and frequency. After discussing your program, I can outline an appropriate training format and quote.

LET'S BUILD A STRONGER TEAM RESPONSE

YOUR TEAM PRACTICES THE PLAY. LET'S TRAIN THE MIND BEHIND IT.

Tell me about your sport, your team, and the moments when performance breaks down. We'll discuss whether a workshop, intensive, or season-long program is the right fit.
